Hello fellow dog lovers!

It's nice to meet you! My name is Julie Wintrob and I am the human trainer behind Pawsome Pupstars Dog Training. I was adopted at birth and am Vietnamese and American.

One of the most common questions I am asked is how did I become a dog trainer? So if you are wondering the same thing, let me tell you!

I graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2015 with a degree in Sociology with a focus in Criminology. After college I became a dog walker to pay the bills. While a dog walker I came into contact with Viviane Arzoumanian the owner of PumpkinPups Dog Training and before I knew it I was a full fledged dog trainer.

After I passed the CPDT-KA exam (Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed) I opened up my own dog training business, Pawsome Pupstars. Since then I have continued growing, learning, and developing my dog training knowledge and skills. If you would like to learn more about my additional certifications and learning experiences you can go to my "About" page on my website.

My training is based on force-free positive reinforcement techniques. Through understanding the root causes and motivations for behaviors we can teach dogs new responses to situations that are problematic for them.

I was raised in Brooklyn and have lived in Brooklyn my whole entire life. I work with families and their dogs in Brooklyn and Queens.

When I am not training dogs, I enjoy reading crime mystery books, playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends, and playing computer games. Currently, I am reading The Honjin Murders by Seishi Yokomizo.

My dream is to one day have a dog I can do volunteer search and rescue with. I'd also like to work with horses again as I haven't had a chance to do so since my riding days in college.

Whether you are looking to tackle house training with your puppy, teach your dog new tricks, or help your dog with fear and anxiety behaviors I want to be part of your team! I look forward to hearing from you about your dog and training goals.
